250,000 vehicles, 120,000 vessels, five years of work: the renewal of the Van Brienenoord Bridge
In early June, Rijkswaterstaat awarded the first major contract for renewing the Van Brienenoord Bridge. From 2027, five years of work begin on one of Europe's busiest connections, over both road and water. That makes this not just a construction challenge, but a stakeholder management challenge of the first order.

Truck ban on the Zwijndrechtsebrug: stakeholder and environmental management in the waiting period until 2030
From 3 June 2026, trucks, tour buses and agricultural vehicles will be banned from the Verkeersbrug Dordrecht, known locally as the Zwijndrechtsebrug. An interim measure that has to bridge four years until the planned renovation in 2030, and one that introduces a new variant of stakeholder and environmental management on renewal projects: not building, but waiting.
